Up and away!

Little ET is now pulling himself up on EVERYTHING. The TV Stand, sofa, Mom or any other strange person in reach. He only wants to walk and stand up all day. Just when things had been getting easier he finds a whole new level and thats all he wants!

Bedtime is funny- we pop him in his cot, he stands up and starts crying we go back in, lay him down. He stands up and starts crying- usually dropping his comfort blanket outside the cot at some time... he was fantastic at bedtime, settling quickly with no crying. We seem to have regressed slightly now and he cried for about ten mins last night. Its just whining though not proper crying.

He is crazy, busy and funny. Newest trick is shaking his head side to side (as if saying No)- we laugh to encourage it coz its so cute :)

Lexie is back from six weeks in SA and we are so happy to see her- It took her a few visits to get used to mad Ethan and his happy screams again but now she is lovely with him. I missed Kes and Lex sooo much- We are both happy to see them both...

must dash, hear a baby standing up again..

dumb dreamfeed

I am really struggling to drop ETs dreamfeed, he is starving and screams blue murder if we miss it. We now have a new plan of slowly shifting his feed forwards, so usually it's at 10.30pm, this week we will move it to 10pm, then 9.30pm and so on... lol he is training us well isnt he!!!

He is now standing up against everything, pulling himself from sitting to kneeling then standing- only trouble is he doesnt know how to get down so just lets go and falls backwards!!! LOL he is so funny.

He has also just figured how to say NO by shaking his head side to side. He uses it at lunchtime now when he has had enough food- sooo cute.

The health visitor has been to see him now and has put the stamp to say he is well, happy and great! Yay

Up and down

Well Ethan has discovered standing up, he pulls himself up on everything! Its very cute but when he gets bored he just ets go and falls backwards- I have to be fast to catch the naughty lad.

He still just says Dada. If he is excited he screams dadadada really high pitched. Content is dadada in a soft quiet way. Angry is DADADADA really shouty and loud- he is so funny!

His favorite toy now is a musical drum we got from Tescos, its just a cheapy but he adores bashing it. In fact he adores bashing everything- he is such a boy!

He is a little clingy with me at the moment but I think its just a phase. He is perfectly happy when he is with his Dad or other people but gets annoyed if he sees me.

We have also decided to start him back at swimming classes so Im very excited!!!

Update

Well, I think I had better update before I forget everything. Ethan continues to develop very fast. He started commando crawling at about seven months and is really fast! He is into everything and BAD MOMMY popped him on the bed yesterday, i was only next to him but he threw himself right off the edge and has a huge black lump on his head now. I feel terrible but it hasnt taught him a thing, he tried to do it again later on!

He has also been teething and in one week has managed to sprout FOUR teeth. Two bottom middle ones and two at the front right (not his middle top ones yet)! He has been awful, massive nappy expolsions (GROSS) grumpy ALL DAY, sick, not eating and not napping.

He is sleeping quite well, still having his dreamfeed at the moment and has now decided to wake at 5am.... hmm. I have a plan to combat this so will see if it works.

He is also FINALLY sitting up! He hit eight months then suddenly was sitting really well! I think its because he is now trying to pull himself into standing so its a progression towards that for him!

He is cute, funny and very loving. Everyone comments on how smiley he is- he grins all the time!

MUST be better with my updates! Grrr x

More Holiday

Ethan really enjoyed being spoiled rotten by everyone, but with lack of sleep and such hot days it was tough for me. I did adore seeing Nics family though!

Our flights were tough, going out he was ok, napped a bit on and off and we coped ok... however flights back were a little odd...

We queued to come home a Virgin Airways rep was asking for people to not check in and take the same flight tomorrow. We decided we would do this and they gave us free flights (for us all) to anywhere in the world bar Oz to be taken in eighteen months. However it meant Ethan went to bed this night really late and still woke early. So by the time we boarded again the next evening he was already tired. The flight took off at 10.30pm but lights werent turned off until 2.30am SA time. Also the 'Skycots' they use are more like carseats and baby is strapped in. That is fine safety wise but if your baby sleeps on their front you end up with a very grumpy and uncomfortable little one who cant sleep... 11.5 hrs and a short nap or two later we got off the plane VERY tired!

Ah well, maybe next time will be better...

whoops

Sorry its a really long time since I posted! So much has happened!

Well South Africa first:

The Flight out was ok, Ethan slept a little and whinged a bit but wasnt too bad. I didnt get a chance to watch a movie or chill at all but we coped. We hit SA in a heatwave and although we did all we could to keep Ethans/ our room cool he slept really badly. He was waking four or more times a night. He also isnt used to having us in with him and I think that made him worse. Some nights it took ages to resettle him and I was so tired he ended up in bed with us most nights. I think this put a bit of a dampner on the hols for me as I was so tired and grumpy. He did however absolutely LOVE Aleta, Houtie the girls (his cousins) and Nics cousin Lynette. I got a chance to chill and sunbathe while they babysat. We also had some great days out to the Aquarium and to see Penguins and Ethan fell in LOVE with swimming! He just adores the water now!

Middle Class Mothering

It was only a few days ago when I last met up with my NCT group. I love the fact we have all stayed in contact but had to have a private giggle.

A small group of women sit drinking coffee and juggling babies, bottles and nappies. The Skip Hop changing bags line the floor and clutttering up the hallway are identical Quinny pushchairs. In between the feeding, playing and hoping that our baby isnt the one screaming this week, we discuss the benefits of Baby Led Weaning and Baby Gap socks. We all get the same guilt trips and im sure we all miss being US. However we seem to have morphed into the middle class mum- we are one of the same and it does make me grin :-)

Ethan is awesome, smiling and giggling at anyone who cares to smile at him. He is eating for England and is getting really active, wriggling and rolling his way around the playmat etc. He loves his hugs and SCREAMS if I go out the rrom. His latest habit is to sit happily with Papa until I come in the room then SCREAMS til I cuddle him. Little s*d LOL!

He has also had four sleep throughs from 10am ti 7am ish which is fab... these nights however are usually followed by a night of waking at least twice and screaming.. dunno why but he will always go back to sleep after a feed but I dont want that to become habit!

Anyway- off on Thursday for our first holiday to sunny SA.... wish me luck!
