I was thinking the other day about how I used to feel about babies and how much I have changed...
I remember people bringing babies to Agility Shows or training or going off work to have them. I had absolutely no intrest in them at all! Babies just did not push my buttons, I didnt seem to have an ounce of maternal instinct. I wonder now if it was simply because none of my close friends had yet had them. I will always remember the 'change' in me.
We were out for the evening with a group of friends including the Wrights (Becky and Martyn) we started talking about families and Becky admitted they were trying for a baby. All of a sudden the oddest feeling came over me and I wanted my own Baba! Now who knows, maybe it was my competitive nature (If they can have a baby so can we)! But suddenly and instantly I wanted a baby more than anything. I walked over to Nic and told him we HAD to leave as I needed to discuss something with him. We left the bar and I asked him "So how do you feel about trying for a baby"... a few months down the line and there I am 'waddling' around and talking babies, babies, babies!
Ethan is the best thing I have ever done. He makes me laugh and smile all the time. He is a very smiley baby and grins at everyone- charming strangers and friends alike. He has broken through every single one of Nics barriers. I dont think Nic will ever let me in the way he has Ethan. He loves ET totally and with all his heart and head. Just to touch his baby pleases and soothes Nic. No matter how grumpy Et is, when he sees Nic for the first time every evening his face splits into a HUGE grin. I love that bond they have, it touches my heart.

Big Boy Now!
Our lad continues to grow and develop all the time!
His weaning is going great guns and he just LOVES his food. So far he has had Baby Rice, Butternut Squash, Banana, Carrot, Apple and Potato. He has also had some mixes of prepacked stuff (organic and no rubbish in) of Apple and Banana and Butternut Squash with Prunes etc (yes I think it tasted as gross as it sounds). He has LOVED it all! So far he hasn't refused a single thing. When you hold the spoon up he grabs your arm and shoves the spoon into his mouth, leans forward into it and gobbles the whole lot! He has gone from a tip of a teaspoon to three meals a day, about seven or eight spoons per meal in a few weeks- greedy guts he is! He has also started drinking a little water although isnt so impressed with this :)
Xmas was fun, he wasn't particuarly intrested in his presents but loved the wrapping paper Daniel used so played with that for ages! Shallow little bu77ers babies are LOL no sense of decorum at all ;-)
Nights are improving, we had three nights in a row with no crying during bedtime routine and going to sleep alone with no crying either, however tonight he SCREAMED for about twenty mins... we still wake him at 11ish for dreamfeed then he wakes 3ish and again at around 6am... so we are getting better although how I long for a full nights sleep!
He is a total cutie though and now rolls onto his side to fall asleep and cuddles into his taggie blanket. He is also laughing and giggling tons, especially for his Papa whom he has a great love/ hate relationship with, Papa is his favorite thing ever as long as he is happy and smiley- when he is miserable he just wants Mama.... Great, I get grumpy baba!
He is wonderful though and for all the sleepless nights, stress, rows and tears that have taken over us since his birth, nothing can beat the total, consuming love we feel for him. I really would walk a million miles for one of his smiles!
